Buried the dead cat

Today when I rode my bicycle by the dead cat next to the highway I picked it up and took it home.   If the ground was too frozen to bury the cat then I would lay it in the pasture until the ground thawed.   The pasture certainly would be a better place for the cat than in the ditch next to the highway.  I was able to dig though the frozen ground and make a hole to bury the cat.  It is buried in the south pasture.  The cat will rest in peace better there than next to the highway.

A very pretty cat

Dead cat on highway

As I get older dead animals bother me a lot more than they did in the past.  A few days ago, as I rode my bicycle along the highway a short distance from where I live, I saw a dead cat on the road.  It didn't quite make it across the highway.  It is a four-lane road and a busy road.  There were no marks on the cat.  It appears to have been killed by the force of the air under the car knocking the cat to the ground.

I didn't want the cat's body to be flattened by the vehicles. I waited for a few cars to pass and they avoided the cat's body.  Then I ran out and retrieved the cat and laid it in the ditch.  The cat was limp so it must have been killed a very short time before I found it.

It was a very beautiful cat.  White-ish body.  The legs were a rich brown all the way to the shoulders.  And some other rich brown on ears and tail.  And it was a long hair cat.  I felt so sad for the cat.  If the ground wasn't frozen I would have taken it home and buried it.
