Merry Christmas from Daisy

Merry Christmas from Daisy who was chilling out this afternoon watching the birds.

Catching a teaser

So much for the birds teasing Daisy.  In the morning Daisy laid at the floor by the window and watched the birds.  Several times the window stopped her from getting a bird.

Then after noon Daisy and I went outside.  Me to shovel the snow that fell overnight.  Daisy to watch me.  When I was shoveling the driveway in front of the house Daisy was outside the bushes and shrubs in front of the house. I heard the birds chattering in the bushes and shrubs.  Later I noticed Daisy was laying on the rug outside the main door.  The rug was messed up.

Odd, as she doesn't usually do that.

A closer look found Daisy playing with one of the small birds.  How she caught it I don't know.

Daisy is a mighty hunter.

Helping with hay

Daisy goes with me when I move hay bales from the hay shed to the barn.

After I cleared the snow off a few railroad ties, Daisy took time out to survey the surroundings from the top of the railroad ties.

To get up onto the railroad ties Daisy climbed the corral fence like a ladder. Here she is coming back down.  She insisted on coming down by herself instead of me helping her.  She's a big girl.

Bird teasing

Lately the birds have been driving Daisy crazy.  Friday one small bird sat on the narrow edge of the window frame right against the window and looked inside.  Poor Daisy couldn't get through the window.

Snow frolick

Now that it warmed up a bit Daisy went outside and frolicked in the snow this afternoon as I shoveled recent snow from the driveway and yard.  I swear the snow doesn't bother her as she ran and bounded through snow almost as deep as she is tall.  In the evening she was all tuckered out.

Yes, she got my computer chair before I did.  So I have to sit on a hard wooden stool as I type this.

In a box

At her Shopping Extravaganza event last Saturday Tammy collected coats to give to a local clothing pantry for the needy.  We put them in a tall box. Until we can get the coats to the pantry the box sits in the living room.  Daisy likes to sleep in the box.  The box is high so I have to lift her into the box when she stands and stretches to look inside.  Once inside the box she sleeps and lays for hours.

All good things come to an end as today I took the coats to the clothes pantry.  Daisy will have to find another place to nap.

Life of Pi tiger

Last night Tammy and I watched on DVD the movie, "Life of Pi".  It is  a good movie.  The movie had a number of animals in it including a Bengal tiger.

Daisy was sleeping on Tammy's lap when the tiger made an appearance in the lifeboat.  Daisy woke up with a start and got excited. She watched the TV screen intently.  Tammy tried to calm Daisy by talking to her and petting her but when the tiger had a closeup looking right out of the screen Daisy took off in a flash.  I think Daisy's back feet made an impression on my thigh when she took off.

Tammy found Daisy sitting in the hallway near the bathroom.  She was crouched down and watching the TV from the furthest point she could.  Tammy brought Daisy back into the living room.  Daisy stood and watched the TV as the tiger swam in the ocean but quickly decided she wanted to be further away when the tiger attempted to get back into the lifeboat.

Daisy didn't come back until the movie was over.

Recovery

Daisy is better today and back to her old self.  She meows and talks to (and back to) us.  And to the birds at the bird feeder.

Daisy claws at us when we leave and don't pet and scratch her long enough.

She went outside a few times, though not for long as it was snowing.   In the evening she was in the backyard when Tammy called for her.  She came running at full speed.  When she got to the concrete step she wiped out and slid into the house wall before quickly righting herself and dashing inside the house.  "Take it easy Daisy!"

And she looked out the window and watched the cattle, and the deer who came out at dusk.

Under the weather

Poor Daisy.  She went outside early Friday morning and caught a mouse.  She forgot what happens and ate half of it and left the rest on the front step for me to find.  Then she paid the price as she threw up three times today: morning, afternoon and evening.   The last time was just liquid as she had not eaten since throwing up the second time.

Here is Daisy laying on the floor under my computer table an hour before she drank some water and then threw up the third time.

You know someone is under the weather when they use a table leg for a pillow.

Chicken legs

Who is that stretching on the loveseat?

It's Daisy stretching out while sleeping!

Yellow toy attack

Tonight Daisy had energy to burn.  She even played with her new yellow "Cat's meow" toy.

Here is a 37 second video of Daisy playing with her toy:

Daisy has already chewed off a short piece of the red plastic.

Yellow toy

Today our neighbor Jan gave Daisy a new toy since her cat wasn't interested in it.  Under the yellow mat a red piece of plastic moves erratically back and forth.

Initially Daisy coolly watched it from a distance.

After a while she came closer to check out the red plastic and the black piece in the center.

Then she wandered off.  Not interested.   Later, when the toy was not running, Daisy rolled around with the yellow mat trying to scratch it with her claws.

Here is a 36 second video of Daisy watching the yellow toy while another battery powered toy pesters her until she attacks it.

Sleeping close

With the recent colder weather Daisy no longer insists on going outside at 6 am. This morning I woke up to find Daisy on the bed between Tammy's legs and my legs.  Originally Daisy's back legs were up on Tammy but Daisy slid them down when I went to get the camera.

Laryngitis

After a long day outside yesterday in the wind and cold, Daisy decided to spend most of today inside the house.  The few times she did go outside it for a brief time.  It also seems as if she has laryngitis as her meow is really weak.

Tonight she has extra energy as she pushed stuff around on my table and then off onto the floor, did some unusual acrobatics, and is now stalking Tammy trying to surprise and ambush her.

Behind the bathroom door

Quite often when Daisy wants peace and quiet she lays behind the bathroom door.

Cupboard

Daisy figured out how to open some of the cupboard drawers.  After I finished the pantry we put the pots and pans and stuff from under the electric range top to the pantry.  So these empty cupboards make a nice place for Daisy to lay when she is in the mood to do so.

Sleepy snuggie kitty

Daisy was outside for most of Friday and didn't get back into the house until after 8:30 pm when Tammy and I got back from setting up her Treasure Market at the fairgrounds.  Daisy was very hungry as Tammy couldn't open the house door fast enough.  Later Daisy crashed on the couch snuggled up to Tammy while laying on 'her' snuggie.

You still there with that camera?
