Watching the cows fight

When the two cows fought this morning Daisy climbed up on a railroad tie on the corral fence and watched the fight with me.

It looked to be an interesting show, who could blame her for checking it out, right? Are the cows trying to, oh, I don't know how else to say it, but give each other cow titty twisters by going after the udder like that? I've never seen that before--though its been a while since I spent much time on my uncle's farm. Daisy is such a cool looking cat. My most beloved childhood kitty was black and white with a half black-half pink nose. Holly. I like that nose pattern. Daisy looks to have it, too.

I have had heifers that fought but they either went head to head or rammed the other heifer in the side. These cows go for the udder. When they fought in the past, when they had calves and their udders were full of milk, they really went for the other cow's udder. If they latched on they would start drinking to drain the udder. The cow whose udder was latched on to - instinct would take over and the cow would stop fighting and would just stand there. I would have to try to break them up so the udder wasn't drained and there would be milk left for the calf. Often the cows would start fighting again until they got it out of their system. One time when I broke them up one cow (Mama, the little brown cow) stopped fighting with the other cow and she came after me and almost knocked me over before I finally got over the fence and out of the corral.
