We didn't get the snow. Yay!
We didn't get the strong winds. Yay!
But the predicted cold is slowly settling in.
The temperature was just barely above zero F at noon today. Here are the forecast low temperatures for tonight.
Daisy was smart and decided to spend the day inside. She went outside a couple times in the morning, but very briefly. Even when I went outside late afternoon to feed and water the cattle Tammy couldn't interest Daisy in joining me. Instead she sat at the window and watched me.
When I watched the noon news and weather on TV Daisy settled down on the snuggie for a nap next to me.
An unusual sounding jet flying overhead got Daisy's interest.
Then back to her nap.

2 mice and a bird
You'd think with 6 to 7 inches of recent snow hunting would be poor. Not for Daisy. When shoveling snow in front of the house I found a mess of small feathers on the ground. Around noon I saw one mouse laying near my bicycle. Less than an hour later I found another mouse by the door. Then Daisy came in the house for her afternoon nap. Come evening she had no interest in going outside. What a hunter!

Toilet paper
Since Tammy has been away Daisy hasn't had anybody to play tag, peek a boo, or slipper fighting. She also doesn't have anyone to let her outside around 6:30 am each morning. So Daisy comes into the bedroom and scratches on the bed's mattress at the foot of the bed to wake me up. If I ignore her she comes over and scratches the mattress near my head. Try ignoring that!
Sunday morning Daisy discovered a new play activity.
After a busy morning playing Daisy was all tuckered out. She laid on the couch by me and then started snoring.

Where's Tammy?
Daisy is missing Tammy. She had taken to laying on my computer's mouse and messing with my keyboard. She also crawled into the computer chair with me, half laying on the seat and the rest on my legs. There is not quite enough room for the both of us and I end up holding her from falling with one hand. Normally Daisy gets her "computer and people" time with Tammy and rarely sits in my chair with me.
When the weather was nice yesterday Daisy spent most of the day outside. She even caught her second mouse (a big fat one) of the year and left it on the front step. Today Daisy only spent a little time outside and only when I was outside feeding the cattle. Too chilly.

Window sleeping
It snowed a little bit overnight. Enough that I had to shovel it today. Daisy came outside to "help" me. That included: walking or sitting in front of where I was pushing the snow, pouncing on the pile of snow I was pushing and then digging and spreading out the pile of snow, running after or batting little snowballs that rolled down off the big pile I was tossing the snow onto, etc.
Add in some fence climbing, fence walking, bird watching, cattle watching and so on.
No wonder Daisy fell asleep early afternoon when, from the window, she watched me shovel more snow.
I regret not having the camera as Daisy "played" in the snow. Later I got the camera after she fell asleep in the window. Naturally once I began taking photos, and before I could find a position to get a better photo, Daisy woke up.
Daisy was kind of "standing" on the open window blind and watching out the window when she fell asleep.

Sleep typing
The hay in the hay shed is all used up. To feed the cattle I now have used enough hay bales from the barn that Daisy can now jump up different levels to the top of the hay bales. She spent the afternoon checking the barn for mice. So... she was tired in the evening and slept on the snuggie next to Tammy.
But Daisy still wanted to help Tammy on her computer and started some "sleep typing".

Catching a teaser
So much for the birds teasing Daisy. In the morning Daisy laid at the floor by the window and watched the birds. Several times the window stopped her from getting a bird.
Then after noon Daisy and I went outside. Me to shovel the snow that fell overnight. Daisy to watch me. When I was shoveling the driveway in front of the house Daisy was outside the bushes and shrubs in front of the house. I heard the birds chattering in the bushes and shrubs. Later I noticed Daisy was laying on the rug outside the main door. The rug was messed up.
Odd, as she doesn't usually do that.
A closer look found Daisy playing with one of the small birds. How she caught it I don't know.
Daisy is a mighty hunter.

Helping with hay
Daisy goes with me when I move hay bales from the hay shed to the barn.
After I cleared the snow off a few railroad ties, Daisy took time out to survey the surroundings from the top of the railroad ties.
To get up onto the railroad ties Daisy climbed the corral fence like a ladder. Here she is coming back down. She insisted on coming down by herself instead of me helping her. She's a big girl.

Bird teasing
Lately the birds have been driving Daisy crazy. Friday one small bird sat on the narrow edge of the window frame right against the window and looked inside. Poor Daisy couldn't get through the window.

Snow frolick
Now that it warmed up a bit Daisy went outside and frolicked in the
snow this afternoon as I shoveled recent snow from the driveway and yard. I swear the snow doesn't bother her as she ran and bounded
through snow almost as deep as she is tall. In the evening she was all tuckered out.
Yes, she got my computer chair before I did. So I have to sit on a hard wooden stool as I type this.

In a box
At her Shopping Extravaganza event last Saturday Tammy collected coats to give to a local clothing pantry for the needy. We put them in a tall box. Until we can get the coats to the pantry the box sits in the living room. Daisy likes to sleep in the box. The box is high so I have to lift her into the box when she stands and stretches to look inside. Once inside the box she sleeps and lays for hours.
All good things come to an end as today I took the coats to the clothes pantry. Daisy will have to find another place to nap.
