For the past week Daisy has been getting at least one mouse each day. This morning I seen her come back to the house with a mouse in her mouth. Later I seen her intently checking out the side of the garage along the ground. Lost another one!
Daisy saw me watching her and came in the house to eat and drink. When she climbed up on the back of the couch it wasn't long before she was scratching at the window and meowing. I let her outside and she went over to the garage. She caught the mouse again. This time it didn't get away.
Now if Daisy would take naps in the garage like she used to do. There is a mouse who built a cache of sunflower seeds from back when I kept the wild bird food in a bag. The bird food is now in a plastic pail with a lid on it but every week I find a pile of sunflower seed shells in the trunk of my car.
My northern neighbor said she is happy Tammy didn't take Daisy. She has a mouse problem in and around her house and the mice have been getting into her four dogs' food. Daisy often goes over there to hunt mice and the neighbor is happy she does so as she once again told me today.
Everybody loves Daisy. Even people who prefer dogs.

Daisy and the horses
Daisy is not too keen on the horses being in the yard. She is quite talkative to me when the horses are nearby.

Sleeping then slipping
Daisy spent much of today sleeping here and there in the house. In the early evening she was on the back of the couch. Then when she rolled over so I could scratch her neck she slipped down.

Sleeping in a drawer
This morning Daisy went outside as usual. But a few hours later she meowed to come back in. I was still sleeping. She then wanted to check the bedroom out. She wouldn't come up on the bed but climbed on the dresser to look out the window. Then she pawed at the closet doors wanting me to open them for her. Instead I opened a drawer Tammy had used for her clothes and was empty now. Daisy climbed in and went to sleep while I slept in the bed.
Crazy cat.

Sleepy day
Daisy went outside this morning at 3 am. Earlier than normal. Usually she is in to eat and drink and then out once mid morning, then sleeps the hot afternoon on the camper in the pole shed. This morning she stayed in the house and slept. Here and there.
No more snuggie so this 'blankie' will have to do.
I slept too in the early evening. After the rain we woke up.
She waited for me by the house when I went to the road to photograph the mountains and clouds. She is a good kitty and stays away from the road and all the traffic.
She is outside now. Wonder how late she will be.

Head swivel
Daisy didn't come inside the house Sunday night when I called before going to bed at 1 am. It was breezy so she *may* not have heard me, else she was in pursuit of a mouse. Daisy was outside the door to come inside the house when I got up to use the bathroom at 3 am. Tonight she came in the house after 11 pm and is content staying inside. She learns.
You would think coming in the house at 3 am Daisy would sleep late, or let me sleep late. She kind of did: she woke me up at 4:45 am instead of her usual 4 am time.
Late this afternoon she laid on the front step, but then had to look back to see what I was up to by the front door. She competes with the owls at night for mice. Looks like Daisy learned the head swivel trick from the owls.

Hot, hot, hot
It warmed up Wednesday with a high temperature in the upper 80s. A big change from the past weekend. I was hiking most of the day so when I got back home Daisy wanted to be around me. I went out to work on the fence after 5:30 pm and it was still hot. Daisy wanted to come with me to the fence. By the time we reached the fence where I was working Daisy was panting like a dog.
She laid in the shade of the wheel barrow to rest and cool off.
However as I worked along the fence to string more strands of barb wire Daisy wanted to be close to me. There was little shade for her as I moved along the fence. She tried to lay in the shade of the black pail but I kept moving it as it had needed staples and wire as I moved along the fence.
Daisy laid out in the sun and a few flies were bothering her causing her to swat at them. Her mouth was open and she was panting again and breathing fast and heavy. I thought of taking her home but that would mean carrying her and Daisy is not one to be carried. So I sat by her to shade her and get her to stop moving to follow me. After about a half hour to 45 minutes of laying stretched out Daisy had cooled off enough to stop panting and was breathing normally. Some high clouds also came in front of the sun. So I woke up (as I had fallen asleep) and continued working on the fence.
Daisy rested some more before getting up and doing her normal stuff of looking for mice and following me as I worked along the fence.
At the end of the evening when I was done, I packed up everything in my wheel barrow and headed home through the pasture rather than follow the wheel tracks through the hayfield. When I crossed the middle pasture where the cattle were Daisy went in the "ninja mode". She would hide behind a tree trunk and then when she thought no one was watching would run to another tree where she again hid behind that tree trunk.

More corner fence work
Daisy followed me out again a second day when I worked on the far corner fence. This time I brought my camera.
You wouldn't think laying on a large iron pry bar would be comfortable, would you?
Inspecting the hole before I fill the dirt in.
This is why it takes me so long to rebuild my fences. Daisy has to supervise my work.
Playing in the dirt after I filled it in around the post.
Here is a short video of Daisy digging:

Looking for something in the tall thick grass. I don't know if it was a mouse or an insect. She came up empty. I had better luck as I caught a pocket gopher nearby after only having the trap out a few hours.
