Comfortable?

Daisy sleeps in the strangest places.  She will sleep in an area for a week or so then move on to another place as her favorite.  She no longer sleeps in the mud room sink.  Now she favors the top of the washing machine next to the sink.  Why?  I don't know.

Usually  Daisy is stretched all over the top of the washing machine.  Here she is posing for the photo.

Another odd place she likes to lay.

Now she is sleeping under one of the end tables when Tammy and I sit on the love seat.  Does this look comfortable to you?

That flash is bright.  I was trying to sleep.

Thank you.

Computer cat strikes again

If you got any odds emails from Tammy... it may not have been from Tammy.  Daisy decided she wanted to play with Tammy's computer.

"Let's see... Tammy's not paying attention..."

"...so I can dash off a quick email."

"Ooppss... busted."

Watching a hole

When I went out to feed the cattle today Daisy followed me. When I finished feeding the cattle I found Daisy in the barn staring at the barn wall.  Why?

Ahh... without the camera's flash you can see a reason.   Daisy is smart enough to know how mice get in and out of the barn.

Barnyard shuffle

Daisy was in the barn and after I finished feeding hay to the cattle she decided to follow me back to the house once she checked if the coast was clear of cattle.

In the afternoon Daisy and Tammy play tag and then do a little rough housing play.

By early evening both are tuckered out.  Tammy also is fighting a sinus infection.

Daisy playing with simple things

It doesn't take much for Daisy to have fun. I cut up an old car engine belt and Daisy likes to play with the pieces.

As you can see she also likes to chase her tail.  We think she is part dog.

Also on Sunday Tammy took a photo of Daisy in her new favorite spot: under a small end table by the loveseat.

We are just amazed at the places Daisy likes to sleep.  They don't look all that comfortable.

Daisy in the barn

While I was fixing the feeder Daisy came out to the barn.  Here she is when it was time to leave after the work was done.  She feels safer up high since both Momma and Baby stuck their heads through the open barn door.

Daisy loves the barn.  If I leave the door open a crack she will spend hours in there.

After spending so much time Tuesday outside and in the barn Daisy was one tired kitty when she got into the house in the evening. She crashed hard once she got inside the house.  She even let me sleep in the next morning.

Monday morning Daisy and Tammy "partied" as Tammy got ready for work.  They were making so much noise they woke me up.  Tuesday they were quieter but after Tammy left for work Daisy raised a ruckus meowing for Tammy and scratching at the front door.  Those two are best buds.  Daisy gets up early the mornings Tammy goes to work and keeps Tammy company while Tammy is getting ready.

Daisy and the feeder

As I worked on fixing the feeder on Wednesday Daisy was there to help me.  At least when the cattle weren't nearby... then she stayed inside the barn.

Here is Daisy when the cattle were going in and out of the loading corral runway through the gate they opened.

Hey!  Who is that in my feeder?!

Momma, it's me - Daisy.  Please don't eat me.

Enjoying the view from a dry and safe place in the corral

Time to leave?   Ooppss... no.   Baby is guarding my path back into the yard.  I guess I'll have to stay with you a little longer.

More catnip

My cousin Jen suggested I put some catnip in an old sock.  Daisy loves her for that idea!

Even when distracted by Tammy Daisy keeps a hold of the catnip.

By the time Daisy was done with the catnip she had chewed a hole in the sock.

The video is 1:49 long.

When I went out to feed the cattle this afternoon I took Daisy along with me.  She hadn't been on the barn for a day now.  Because of the cattle around the feeder she couldn't quite get the nerve up to get the last few feet into the barn door so I carried her inside.

Once inside Daisy went to work exploring and quickly was on top of the hay bales.

She spent a lot of the afternoon in the barn.  Late afternoon I saw one of the heifers hang around the barn door while the rest of the cattle were on the other side of the barn.  When the heifer looked away I saw a white-with-black streak run from the barn door and across the corral to safety.  The heifer was caught flat-footed.

While at Shopko buying a granddaughter a birthday gift Tammy found a catnip ball for Daisy to play with.  That catnip must not be as concentrated as Daisy plays with the sock more than the ball.

By evening she was one tired kitty. She could barely keep her eyes open.  Just like a child... play hard, crash hard.

Since coming to the ranch Daisy's white is becoming a little more gray.  I'm not the only one who gets dirty.

Daisy, birds and computer

Daisy had another busy day.

In the morning she talked to the birds.  (26 seconds)

Then she ran around the yard while I went on a 10 mile bicycle ride to test my fixed bicycle tube.  The barn door wasn't open today.

When she got back in the house mid afternoon she slept in the mud room sink for the rest of the afternoon.  So cute.

Then she got up and decided to get Tammy and I off Tammy's computer.   (1:49)

Then she and Tammy played tag while I finished eating supper.  Tammy would shriek when Daisy came out of nowhere to surprise 'tag' Tammy by swatting Tammy's pants leg with her paw.

After using my computer's web cam to 'chat' with Tammy, Daisy is now laying on my lap.

Napping with Tammy

Last night Daisy and Tammy shared Tammy's snuggie to take a nap.

Then this morning they slept in late after I got up to feed the cattle.

Much of Daisy's afternoon was spent outside.  She made it inside the barn again as the cattle were slow to get to the feeder.  This time Daisy found a route to the top of the hay bales and explored all around.  She would look and reach down between the bales.  I wondered if she would slip down and get stuck but she didn't.  I must have the bales stacked tight.

When it came to go Daisy wanted to stay.  I didn't feel like climbing up on the bales to get her so I left the door open a little bit but still fastened with a strap so the cattle couldn't get into the barn.  She had lots of time to investigate and look for mice.  She spent some time sniffing a few areas.  So far this year I have not had any bale twine gnawed through by mice, nor found any expired mice.

Daisy spent most of the afternoon in the barn traveling back and forth to the house (with muddy paws) when the cattle weren't by the feeder.  For a while she kept me company as I cut branches down to size but after a while slipped off to the barn again until it was time to come in the house for the night.

Once she came in the house Daisy was a little wound up for a while, pacing around and meowing and occasionally playing with her toys.  Tammy played with her a little bit and we both tried petting her but Daisy was in a biting/scratching mood and wanted to play rough and not be petted so we quit after getting scratched.

Hopefully Daisy sleeps through the night again like last night.   Is this what having a kid is like?

Cat nip

What's a day without a Daisy post on the blog?!

Daisy finally got into the north barn door.  The barn is so stuffed with hay she couldn't make her way from the door on the south side to the north side to find out why I kept going into the north door and this was "killing her". She had to know what was in there.  This afternoon the cattle weren't by the barn door side of the feeder when I went in and out and the next I knew Daisy slipped inside and started checking stuff out.  I had the feeling she was on the scent of mice.  She hadn't found any by the time I finished and picked her up to take out of the barn.  I didn't want to lock her inside the barn when I shut the door.

Speaking of the cattle... this morning Baby made me laugh.  The rest of the cattle had gotten to the feeder as I filled it with more hay.  Daisy slowly ambled out of the loading corral and stepping onto a large patch of ice slipped.  All four of her legs went out from under her and "whompf!" she plopped down hard on her side.  She was ok and quickly got up and made her way to the feeder.  It was funny!

Bob and Jan gave me some of the wild cat nip they had grown and harvested.  So I rubbed Daisy's mouse toy in the cat nip and gave it to her.  Oh yeah!  She loved it.

Daisy sometimes sleeps on the table next to my computer keyboard.  Only when I am on the ocmputer.

You're taking another photo?!

So many toys... what one should I play with?  I know... all of them.

What's that? A mousy? In cat nip?  Take that mousy!!

What you looking at?  I didn't make this mess.

Later when Daisy walked around the house, the yarn and ribbon stuck to her.  She didn't know what was going on and couldn't figure out how to get rid of it.  I had to help her.

In the evening Daisy found a new place to sleep.

Then Daisy and Tammy shared Tammy's snuggie to take naps.
