Wednesday Tammy is heading to Washington and Oregon to see my relatives and attend a Tastefully Simple conference this weekend. Tuesday night, as Tammy was packing, Daisy tried to stow-a-way in Tammy's suitcase. Several times. I caught one of her attempts on video. The attempt I missed filming is when Daisy tried to squeeze in under Tammy's clothes.
Uncle Curt and Aunt Cathy.... you might have an extra house guest tomorrow!

Here Daisy decides to sit on the shower bench while keeping Tammy company as she gets ready for work in the morning. The shower floor was too wet for Daisy today. I knew I added the shower bench for a reason!
Once Tammy leaves for work Daisy comes back to lay on the bed and sleep until I wake up later. Once Daisy eats breakfast, races around the house several times really fast to limber up, it's out the door to patrol around the house and other buildings against mice for much of the rest of the morning and the afternoon.

Daisy and Tammy's slipper
More fun with Daisy.
Monday Daisy wanted to pout in her new favorite place: behind the bathroom door. She was bummed that I wouldn't let her go outside after dark. Never mind that she was outside most of the afternoon.
Even when I took a shower she stayed here.
Daisy is a smart cat and knows to close her eyes when I take her photo at night when the camera's flash goes off.
In the afternoon Daisy climbed the tree to reach the birds at the bird feeder. That didn't work out for her as the birds flew away.
Tuesday I found another mouse 'present' by the door from Daisy. Daisy is a good hunter as she gets mice hiding under the snow.
Now that I packed up and moved her box Daisy is using Tammy's plastic container to lay on with occasional attacks on Tammy's slipper.
Here is a 1:08 video of Daisy and Tammy's slipper with Daisy "High Fiveing" Tammy at the end.

Behind the bathroom door
Now that I finished sorting and filled up and hauled off the box of books and binders, Daisy has taken to sleeping behind the bathroom door.

Tired Daisy
Daisy had a busy day outside. The temperature was above freezing and the snow was melting so she got very wet paws. She left tracks here and there showing where she was outside as she checked the buildings and garage. Once back inside Tammy was not pleased when Daisy hopped up on the loveseat before washing her feet. No mice were caught today.
Come evening Daisy was one tired kitty and crashed in her uncomfortable looking box.
Daisy was so tired that when she took a break from sleeping and slowly walked to her food and water dishes she could barely keep her eyes open.
I think Daisy got tired of us talking to her and having all the house lights on. So she disappeared. We found her in the bathroom behind the door and on a comfy floor mat. She spent several hours there before coming out to the living room to play with Tammy.

Mouse patrol
Last night it snowed a little bit. A cold front had come through. Ironically the cold front warmed our temperatures up as the front scoured out the cold air that sat in our Valley the past week during the inversion.
With temperatures in the 30s and sun Daisy spent much of the afternoon outside. Early afternoon I found a present from her: a dead mouse on the porch by the door. I removed it when Daisy went inside the house. At least she learned from the previous mouse... not to eat them.
A short time later Daisy went back outside and... no mouse. While I shoveled some snow Daisy crossed the fence into the hayfield. This was an area that, when I used to see stray cats, was the place they lingered and watched. A short time later Daisy came back with another mouse. A few days ago I watched as she pounced on top of snow in a futile attempt to get something. Now she learned how to get mice from under the snow. She is a smart cat.
The mouse was alive... barely. The mouse didn't last long. I let Daisy play with it for a while until she tired of it. Then I got rid of it. Tammy doesn't like seeing mice. The other night as Tammy was getting ready to go to bed she turned a light on in the kitchen and shrieked. It turns out the object was Daisy's stuffed toy mouse.
Look at her tail in the first photo. Straight, then up. Backwards, double-jointed up?
In the second photo Daisy is washing up after playing with her food. She didn't eat the second mouse either.
Here is a 1:18 video of Daisy playing with the second mouse. She plays with it just like when she plays with her stuffed toy mouse.

Daisy waiting, sleeping and stretching
Here Daisy is waiting for me to move from my computer chair so she can have it. As you can see she has a healthy appetite. I now have been letting her go outside several times a day to get some exercise rather than restrict her food.
In the morning Daisy keeps Tammy company as she gets ready for work. Here Daisy lays out of the way in the shower. Good thing Daisy likes it cool as those tiles are not the warmest in the morning.
Here Daisy is doing her stretching exercises. I swear she is double jointed.
Instead of sleeping in her box tonight Daisy prefers to sleep in a box of books and binders I was sorting through earlier today. It doesn't look the most comfortable but she has been there for hours. I guess another afternoon of fresh cool air outside has worn her out. Notice her tail in the second photo.
Early this afternoon after I finished putting out more hay for the cattle I turned around to find Daisy sitting next to the corner of the barn watching me and the cattle. She might have wanted to go inside the barn to check it out but with Baby standing at the door she was biding her time. Once I started to leave the corral Daisy decided to come with me... especially since Baby saw her and watched her as Baby was eating.

Another cat and stalking birds
Sunday was another busy day for Daisy.
Around noon another cat came by.
I made a blue circle in the photo where the cat is walking as Daisy watches him go away.
Then Daisy turned around and had a tear in her eye. Tammy didn't believe me Daisy was crying until she came over and saw her tear.
Later Daisy went outside for a breath of fresh air and then decided to sneak up on the birds. She needs to vastly improve her stalking skills before she catches any birds. She wasn't anywhere close to catching any birds.
Later in the afternoon Daisy checked out the board pile in the pole shed. Momma and Baby watched Daisy climb up the boards. Later, after I filled the cattle's water trough, Daisy sat in the sun by the tool shed. Baby was at the water trough.
I introduced Baby and Daisy to each other as they looked at one another. Suddenly Daisy ran towards Baby and freaked Baby out. Instead of taking two side steps to get around the water trough Baby jumped in and out of the filled water trough and then headed around the barn in a big commotion. Momma came running over to the water trough. When Baby took off Daisy stopped and didn't approach the corral any more. We were all surprised.
In the evening Daisy did her stretching exercises near the wood stove.

One tired cat
Daisy had a busy day today. In the morning and early afternoon, after patrolling the house, she played with Tammy's slipper and some yarn.
Here is a 2:11 video of Daisy, Tammy, slippers and yarn.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICVT1Z65C24
Tammy uses her slipper because when she uses her hand Daisy has drawn blood.
In the morning she went outside when I went to feed the cattle. But it was cold and she sat on the carpet by the door and came back in the house when I did.
Then in the afternoon she went out to explore while Tammy went to JoAnn's fabric store to get material for making a quilt. The sun was out and it was warmer with a temperature in the mid 20s F. She was outside the hour or more while Tammy was gone. She was checking out stuff in front of the garage when Tammy returned and she bolted out of the garage to the house door before Tammy could drive into the garage.
Even though I had the vacuum cleaner running by the door she came in the house though was was very wary of the vacuum cleaner. As soon as she could she went to her 'safe place' - which is my computer chair.
She was busy exploring while outside as she came in the house dirty around her face and neck and her feet.
This evening she is "dog tired". Instead of sprawling out on my computer chair as she usually does, she has been in her box for several hours now. She is snoring up a storm now.
After the first few nights here passed she has been on a schedule similar to ours: she mainly sleeps at night. Tonight I have a feeling that since she went to bed early and is sleeping so hard, she'll be up during the night.

Daisy sprawling
Once the fog burnt off and the sun came out Daisy spent much of the afternoon outside Friday exploring. She should sleep well tonight.
Here Daisy is 'helping' Tammy peel grapefruits.
Daisy makes sure I don't have any room on my computer chair.
Surprisingly she doesn't fall out of the chair.

Daisy goes outside
In the morning I got to roll around and play with the man's old smelly shirt as he took a shower.
Uh, oh! Go to go before I get in trouble for playing with his shirt! I didn't chew on it. I promise.
Can I go outside? Please.
Lot of stuff to check out in the patio. Bonus in that I don't have to stand on the cold concrete.
Hmmm... what do I smell? Another cat? I didn't see him but the man said he saw a black long-haired cat outside the house when he opened the window blinds Thursday morning. The black cat got scared and ran away through the snow real fast. I was still sleepy and laying on the lady's spot on the couch and I missed it.
The man said 'Enough exploring for today' and came and got me to go into the house. Darn. I wasn't done exploring! I wanted to go to that little blue building and my feet weren't that cold.
I'm watching big animals in the corral. The man said they are cattle and the littlest one is called 'Baby'. Baby?! That's the biggest baby I ever seen!
Hey! How did you get outside without me?!
Supper time. Maybe if I beg nicely the lady will give me some of the food she is making. Chicken... yum!
I also patrolled the house and checked out all the rooms including slipping into rooms when their doors were opened. I ran around the inside of the house three times really fast and chased my tail a few times. Now I am bored and decided to lay in the man's chair again. Hee, hee. I always get to his chair before he can.
Bye for now.
Daisy.

Daisy is better
After a rough night Daisy has recovered. She was a little quiet this morning but as the day wore on she perked up and soon was back to checking on and talking to the birds, getting into cupboards, racing around the house, chasing her tail when her toys bored her, and sleeping in (and hanging off) my chair.

Daisy and the mouse
Tuesday Daisy got a mouse. I returned from a bicycle ride to find the mouse remains on the kitchen floor. I'm not sure if she actually caught the mouse. In another part of the kitchen I found the mouse trap sprung. The trap is 99% effective in catching mice. So Daisy may have benefited from the mouse trap.
Or maybe not.
Later in the evening as Daisy was sleeping on my computer chair she got up and then down onto the floor. Then she threw up twice just before I could get paper under her. I should have grabbed her and moved her to the linoleum floor.
She threw up a lot. A lot more than my previous cat did when she coughed up a hairball.
Yup. The mouse was part of what she upchucked.
Then an hour later she threw up one more time. Who would have thought she had more to toss! At least this time she threw up on the kitchen floor.
So Daisy felt under the weather the rest of Tuesday evening. She laid quite a long time near the wood stove, something she never does as she likes it cool.

Daisy and Tammy
While I am the person who wanted a cat, Daisy has taken to Tammy.
Last night as Tammy was heading to bed she said "Goodnight Daisy". Daisy then jumped up and raced to the bed getting to it with a giant leap from door frame to bed before Tammy could even reach the bedroom. When Daisy lays on the bed she lays against Tammy and not me.
This morning was the first time Tammy headed off to work since we got Daisy. Man, you should have heard the crying and scratching at the door after Tammy left. I couldn't sleep. This evening after Tammy returned home she went out to her vehicle to get something and even outside Tammy could hear Daisy crying for her. Me... when I go outside... not a peep.
Often Daisy takes my computer chair.
So I am left with sitting on this hard chair.
Tammy says I should kick Daisy out of my chair, that's what she would do. But I can't do it. Instead I wait until she leaves my chair then I grab it.
Tammy has some yarn for Daisy to play with. Here Daisy is posing with the yarn until she got distracted by Tammy.
Here is a 55 second video of Daisy smacking her lips while watching the birds.
